Jan is a queer, non-binary writer living in NYC. Their play Pluck was selected for the 2023 Eugene O'Neill National Playwright Conference. Their film 'guts' premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January 2024. They are the author of GUSHER!, How To Destroy An American Girl Doll, What's Wrong With You, Janie Wants A Dog, and many other coming of age stories with a dark twist. Their plays have been finalists for The O'Neill, the Princess Grace Award, and the Theatre503 World Playwriting Award. They have collaborated with the LAByrinth Theater Company, Seattle Rep, IAMA Theatre, The Cherry Lane, The Lark, The Last Frontier Conference, Possibilities Theater Company, Vertigo Theater, Wide Eyed Productions, and countless others. They were the playwright in residence at Stella Adler Studio and The Farm Theater. They are a member of the Playwright/Directors Unit at The Actors Studio.
They are neurodivergent and will talk to you for six hours straight about horror movies and books. They enjoy moving their body in awkward ways, coloring, and listening to audiobooks with their dog, Desi. Current fascinations/obsessions: the funeral industry, Jane Schoenbrun's films, modern dance, and hot dogs (thank you, 'Raw Dog' by Jamie Loftus). |
